RE: PRELIMINARY AGENDAS -- TAX AND PENSION COMMITTEE MEETINGS

Meeting Information and Preliminary Agendas
As you know, the Tax and Pension Committee meetings will be held on Wednesday,
June 18, 1997, in the David Silver Conference Room on the 12th Floor of the Institute’s offices at
1401 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC. The Tax Committee meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m.,
followed by a joint luncheon, where our guest speaker will be Robert J. Doyle, Director of
Regulations and Interpretations, Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration at the US
Department of Labor. The Pension Committee meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The preliminary meeting agendas for the Tax and Pension Committees are attached.
Please review the agendas and bring with you to the meetings any memoranda about which
you have specific questions or comments; in a change from prior practice, the meeting materials
no longer will contain copies of every memorandum distributed during the prior four months.
June 17 Meeting on IRS Audit Issues and Tax Committee Dinner
As Tax Committee members know, a meeting to discuss tax issues arising from IRS
audits of funds and their advisers will be held on June 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Institute’s David
Silver Conference Room. Since many of the June 17 meeting attendees also will be attending
the Tax Committee meeting on June 18, the Institute has made arrangements for interested
Institute members to have dinner together on June 17 at 6:00 p.m., at AV Ristorante Italiano, 607
New York Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC. If you plan to attend the June 17 dinner, please call
the Institute’s Ana Alvarez at 202-326-5836 no later than Monday, June 16 so that the
appropriate dinner reservation can be confirmed.
