RE: IRS RELEASES FORMS 1099-MSA AND 5498-MSA

The Internal Revenue Service has released Form 1099-MSA and Form 5498-MSA. Form 1099-
MSA must be issued by a medical savings account custodian or trustee when making a distribution from
a medical savings account. Similarly, MSA custodians and trustees must report annual contributions and
rollovers made to an MSA account on Form 5498-MSA. The IRS also plans to release Form 8851 on
which MSA trustees must report the total number of MSAs established.
