SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM TASK FORCE MEETING - NOVEMBER 1

October 17, 1995 TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 20-95 RE: SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM TASK FORCE MEETING - NOVEMBER 1 ______________________________________________________________________________ As discussed at the Pension Committee meeting on October 11, the Institute is establishing a Task Force to discuss technical and operational issues that would arise if a social security reform program similar to that proposed by Senators Simpson and Kerrey were to be implemented. The present Simpson-Kerrey bill proposes to permit individuals to voluntarily establish IRA-type accounts "Personal Investment Plans" with a portion of their social security tax. The initial meeting will be held on November 1, at the Grand Hyatt in Washington D.C. from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be served. A meeting agenda will follow for those planning to attend the meeting. Please fax the attached response form to Theresa Brice at 202-326-5841 by October 27. Russell G.
