RE: FEBRUARY 23 MEETING TO DISCUSS SYNTHETIC MUNICIPAL
SECURITIES AND TEMICS

The Institute has scheduled a meeting on Wednesday, February 23, 1994 to
discuss the tax issues raised by current structures for synthetic municipal
securities and, in addition, the proposed Tax Exempt Municipal Investment
Conduit ("TEMIC") legislation. The meeting will be held at the Institute's
new offices located at 1401 H Street, N.W., 12th Floor, Washington, D.C.,
beginning at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served
The principal purpose of the meeting will be to discuss issues raised by
the existing structures used to create such securities: direct ownership,
grantor trusts and partnerships. In addition, the current status of the TEMIC
proposal and issues or problems with the draft TEMIC provisions will be
considered.
