RE: NOTIFICATION OF STATES ADOPTING NASAA GUIDELINES

At the Contractual Plans Committee meeting held on May
20th, it was determined that the Institute would notify plan
sponsors of the states adopting the NASAA Guidelines for
Registration of Periodic Payment Plans. Rather than the
Institute contacting each state individually, it was decided that
the best course of action would be for the Institute to monitor
the formal rule proposals of the states since it appears unlikely
that all states will adopt the Guidelines (in whole or in part).
In addition, plan sponsors should also contact the Institute upon
notification by a state that the state is applying the Guidelines
to the registration and/or renewal of a plan. The Institute will
then disseminate this information to all plan sponsors.
Therefore, we would appreciate it if you would contact the
undersigned at (202) 955-3517 when you have been notified by a
state that the Guidelines will be applied.
