RE: MAINE INCREASES SECURITIES REGISTRATION FEES

The Institute has been notified that legislation has been
signed into law in Maine which will raise certain registration
fees, effective August 19, 1991. The annual fee for the
registration of each fund class, portfolio or series of
securities will increase from $300 to $400. The only exception
would be the fee for filings of less than $1 million registered
by qualification, which would remain $300. Additionally, the fee
for an initial or renewal sales representative licensing will
increase from $30 to $40. Please note that any fees received by
the Maine Securities Division on Monday August 19, 1991 or
thereafter must be for the increased amount or the check will be
returned.
A copy of Maine's notice to the Institute and the relevant
portion of the bill are attached.
