INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 17-07 RE: SEC ANNOUNCES INTERNET TOOL THAT DISCLOSES ISSUERS’ BUSINESS INTERESTS IN COUNTRIES KNOWN TO SPONSOR TERRORISM

The Securities and Exchange Commission has announced the availability of a tool on its website that will permit the public access to disclosure in company filings regarding the company’s business interests in countries that the U.S. Secretary of State has designated “State Sponsors of Terrorism.” [1]  This tool lists the five countries that are currently on the State Sponsors of Terrorism list, i.e., Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.  Clicking on any of these countries will provide users of the tool a list of companies whose most recent annual reports disclose business activities in that country.  Clicking on the name of that company will, in turn, provide electronic access to the pertinent portions of that company’s annual report.
