RE: FINAL DRAFT OF CIRCULAR 230 COMMENT LETTER
I have attached a final draft of the Institute’s comment letter regarding the proposed
regulations under Circular 230, which, among other things, sets forth standards for tax shelter
opinions. The draft includes member comments discussed during our January 25, 2005 and
February 24, 2005 conference calls. The deadline for submitting comments on the proposed
regulations to Treasury is March 1, 2005. A public hearing is scheduled for March 22, 2005. If
