FEBRUARY 11 CONFERENCE CALL ON DOL PROHIBITED TRANSACTION EXEMPTION REFORM

[18506] February 4, 2005 TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 5-05 PENSION OPERATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 5-05 RE: FEBRUARY 11 CONFERENCE CALL ON DOL PROHIBITED TRANSACTION EXEMPTION REFORM A conference call has been scheduled for Friday, February 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time to discuss approaches to prohibited transaction exemption (PTE) reform. The Department of Labor, as part of a long-term project, is reviewing its prohibited transaction exemption procedures. This review covers, among other things, the complexity of the rules and the extent to which the rules overlap, duplicate or conflict with other laws. During the call, we plan to discuss approaches to improve the PTE process.
