RE: GOVERNOR CUOMO SIGNS CORRECTIVE NEW YORK ABANDONED
PROPERTY LEGISLATION

We are pleased to inform you that Governor Cuomo today
approved legislation amending the New York Abandoned Property
Law to require that mail be returned by postal authorities as
an element of abandonment (A.9300-A/S.6887-A). The Institute
wishes to thank those members who actively supported this
legislation. Your efforts were clearly instrumental in
achieving a favorable result.
Attached is a copy of the bill passed by the Senate, which
is identical to the legislation passed by the Assembly and
signed by the Governor.
