[17821] July 29, 2004 TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 34-04 RE: CONFERENCE CALL SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, AUGUST 16 TO DISCUSS DISCLOSURE TO PLAN SPONSORS AND PARTICIPANTS A conference call has been scheduled for Monday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time, to discuss fee and expense disclosure to plan sponsors and plan participants. Specifically, the Institute plans to provide its views on these issues to two ERISA Advisory Council Working Groups. The Working Group on Fee and Related Disclosures to Participants will study such disclosures as they relate to investment decisions and retirement savings. We understand that this working group will examine, among other things, disclosures provided pursuant to the regulations under ERISA section 404(c). The Working Group on Plan Fees and Reporting on Form 5500 will assess plan sponsors’ understanding of plan fees and expenses, and the Form 5500 reporting requirements relating to such fees and expenses.
