RE: SEC EXTENDS COMMENT PERIOD FOR PROPOSED REGULATION NMS
The SEC has announced that it is extending the comment period on proposed
Regulation NMS from May 24, 2004, to June 30, 2004.1 At the same time, the SEC announced
plans to issue a supplemental request for comment on proposed Regulation NMS to reflect
matters discussed during the SEC’s Regulation NMS hearing that was held on April 21, 2004.
The press release announcing the extension of the comment period states that the extension and
the supplemental request for comment are intended to afford the public a full opportunity to
address in their comment letters the matters discussed at the hearing.
