RE: NEW IRS MATERIALS ENCOURAGE RETIREMENT PLAN COMPLIANCE
The IRS has released new materials designed to help small businesses and plan
administrators keep their employee retirement plans compliant. As described in the attached
IRS News Release, Publication 4224 (“Retirement Plan Correction Programs”) is a pamphlet that
provides a summary of the various correction programs operated by the IRS, DOL and PBGC.
Publication 4050 (“Retirement Plan Correction Programs”) is a CD-ROM that offers
more in-depth information regarding IRS, DOL and PBGC correction programs, including a
plain language explanation of various programs, examination guidelines, frequently asked
questions and links to IRS, DOL and PBGC websites. An online version of the CD-ROM is
available on the Retirement Plans web page at www.irs.gov/ep by selecting “More Topics” and
then “Correction.” The pamphlet and the CD-ROM may be ordered by calling 800-829-3676.
