RE: JUNE 20 AND 21 TAX COMMITTEE MEETINGS IN LOS ANGELES, CA
The next regularly scheduled meetings of the Tax Committee will be held in Los
Angeles, California at the Jonathan Club (545 South Figueroa Street) on June 20 and 21, 2002.
Preliminary agendas for these meetings will be distributed approximately two weeks before the
meetings. Attire for these meetings will be business casual.
June 20 Subcommittee Meeting
The subcommittee meeting, which will begin at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday June 20, will
involve (1) a comprehensive overview of tax reporting and operational requirements that would
be necessary to permit fund shareholders to defer tax on reinvested capital gain dividends, and
(2) consideration of a regulatory initiative to modernize the rules for determining whether
merging funds satisfy the continuity of business enterprise test. Lunch will be available
beginning at 1:00 p.m.
June 21 Tax Committee Meeting
The regular meeting of the Tax Committee, which will focus on both ongoing projects
and current developments, will begin on Friday, June 21 at 9:30 a.m. A light lunch will be
available after the meeting.

ewynn@ici.org. We will provide those who return the meeting response form with information
regarding the committee activities (e.g., a committee dinner) that we are planning for the
evening.

624-1000. To receive the preferred hotel rate of $192.00 single/double occupancy that has been
arranged, reserve your hotel room by May 17, 2002 and mention the Investment Company
Institute when making the reservation.

Fall Tax Committee Meetings -- Mark Your Calendar Now
Please mark your calendar now for the Fall meetings of the Tax Committee, which will
be held in Washington DC. The issue-specific meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at
2:00 p.m. The general-session meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 9:30 a.m.
