RE: INSTITUTE CONFERENCE CALL ON CATCH-UPS - MONDAY AUGUST 6, 2001,

We have scheduled a conference call for Monday, August 6, 2001 at 2:00 PM EST to
discuss issues relating to the implementation of catch-up contributions under the Economic
Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 (“EGTRRA”). At the special meeting of the
Pension Committee and Pension Operations Advisory Committee meeting held on July 19, we
discussed issues surrounding the implementation of the new catch-up provision under
EGTRRA. Specifically, we discussed the areas in which we needed clarification and guidance
from the Internal Revenue Service.
Attached please find an outline of guidance issues and recommendations relating to the
implementation of catch-ups. This outline is based on our discussion at the July 19 meeting.
The purpose of the August 6 conference call is to identify and prioritize catch-up issues
requiring clarification and guidance and determine our recommendations with respect to these
issues.
