Enclosed is a copy of the 2001 Mutual Fund Fact Book and a new publication, Facts About Funds.
The 2001 Mutual Fund Fact Book
The newly revised Fact Book contains two sections: text and data. The main text of the book, which has been
restructured this year, consists of five chapters covering the features of mutual funds, mutual fund regulation and
taxation, U.S. mutual fund developments during the 1990s, trends in mutual fund ownership and shareholder
demographics, and mutual funds in the retirement market. The data section is divided into seven subsections: four
cover the U.S.-based mutual fund industry, one each covers U.S.-based institutional investors and fund industries in
other countries, and a new subsection includes data on the U.S.-based closed-end fund and unit investment trust
industries.
Facts About Funds
Facts About Funds is a 12-page brochure that sheds light on common misconceptions about the mutual
fund industry and its shareholders. The brochure references Institute and other research about mutual
funds and mutual fund shareholders.
