First, in light of recent congressional interest in reviewing the structure and operation of ERISA,1 the Institute intends to develop proposed legislation that would facilitate the delivery of investment advice to participants. Second, as discussed during prior meetings, the Institute is working with outside counsel and an actuarial firm to develop proposed legislation that would offer a simplified required minimum distribution ("RMD") alternative under Code section 401(a)(9). We seek member assistance and input with respect to both projects at the meeting. Materials relating to the investment advice issue and RMD reform will be distributed prior to the meeting. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. EST in the David Silver Conference Room at the Institute’s offices, 1401 H Street, NW, Suite 1200, Washington, DC. The "investment advice" discussion will occur in the morning; the discussion of RMD reform will take place following lunch.
