[10834] March 26, 1999 TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 20-99 RE: INSTITUTE CONFERENCE CALL ON IRA BENEFICIARY ISSUES - MARCH 31 ______________________________________________________________________________ Recently, the Wall Street Journal published an article on naming IRA beneficiaries entitled, “New IRA Policies May Mean Big Savings.” Specifically, the article discussed the policy of allowing people who inherit individual retirement accounts to name their own beneficiaries. The article noted that some financial institutions allow such beneficiary designations and others require full payout of the IRA account at the death of the original beneficiary. A conference call has been scheduled to discuss the issue of IRA beneficiary designation on Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. EST.
