RE: 1999 UPDATE - BLUE FLAG

The Investment Company Institute is pleased to announce that it will provide members with a
new service that will replace and expand upon the Institute’s Guide to Foreign Marketing Regulations. The
new service was developed and maintained by the London-based law firm Linklaters & Alliance in
association with the Institute. It consists of a hard-copy binder of information that will be mailed to
recipients of the Guide later this month, and a more extensive and interactive on-line database of
information available currently through ICINet. 1 Blue Flag® Funds covers the legal and regulatory
requirements applicable to the sale of fund shares in 21 countries around the world. An additional 11
countries will be added in the coming months.
Access to the online database of information that comprises Blue Flag® Funds is available
through a link on the Institute’s members-only website, ICINet. The online service is far more extensive
than the Guide or the information in the binder and includes convenient features such as hyperlinks that
make research easier. Information in the electronic service also is more current, as it is updated
throughout the year by Linklaters & Alliance.
We encourage you to make use of this new service, particularly Blue Flag® Funds online. If you
