IDC’s virtual roundtable series will resume next week, with the first scheduled meeting for directors based in Massachusetts and Maine on February 23. IDC launched this series of regionally based virtual roundtables in 2020 to provide peer-to-peer exchange opportunities during the pandemic period. Please see below for the roundtable in your region.
The ESG Subcommittee of the SEC’s Asset Management Advisory Committee (AMAC) presented potential recommendations regarding ESG-related disclosure at a December meeting. The subcommittee’s potential recommendations address disclosure of ESG risks by public companies, as well as ESG-related disclosure by funds and other investment products. The subcommittee declined to recommend specific approaches to ESG performance measurement. SEC Commissioner Roisman published a related statement in which he agreed with several aspects of the subcommittee’s potential recommendations, but also posed some questions to the subcommittee. Read ICI’s summary of the subcommittee’s potential recommendations and Commissioner Roisman’s statement here (login required for memo).
ICI also hosted a webinar earlier this week focusing on ESG fund investing. A recording of the webinar, including a conversation between ICI President and CEO Eric J. Pan and SEC Acting Chair Allison Herren Lee, will be available to members soon.
The SEC published a request for public comment on potential reform measures to address the resilience of money market funds as highlighted in a December Report of the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets (PWG). The report provides background on money market funds and discusses various measures that policymakers could consider to improve the resilience of US prime and tax-exempt money market funds and broader short-term funding markets. Comments are due April 12, 2021. A summary of the SEC’s request is available here (login required for memo).
