It is timely to undertake such a process since the last study was completed eight years ago and it is always better to consider what changes should be made when the environment is favorable rather than in a crisis atmosphere. A vital component of this study is a questionnaire that will be sent to members of ICI standing committees within the next week. The questionnaire you will receive as one of those committee members is designed to obtain feedback on ICI’s current activities, as well as to solicit your thoughts about future priorities for the Institute. This questionnaire asks for a personal response from your perspective as an ICI committee member. (A separate, but similar questionnaire is being sent to the senior ICI contact person at each member complex. That questionnaire seeks an organizational response). ICI Standing Committee Members February 26, 1998 Page Two Questionnaire responses are to be sent to Dr. Philip G. Kuehl at Westat Inc., where they will be handled in an entirely confidential manner. Dr. Kuehl is consultant to the Future Role Subcommittee of the Executive Committee, the group that is guiding this study. It is important to have a high level of response to the questionnaire from every segment of the Institute’s membership. When the questionnaire arrives, I hope you will make time in your busy schedule to give it your thoughtful attention and quick response. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Matthew P. Fink President
