RE: SEC EXTENDS COMMENT PERIOD ON EQUITY INDEX INSURANCE
PRODUCTS CONCEPT RELEASE

As we recently informed you, the Securities and Exchange Commission has issued a
concept release soliciting comment on the status of equity index insurance products under the
federal securities laws.* The SEC has extended the comment period for the concept release from
November 20, 1997 to January 5, 1998. Attached is a copy of the SECs release extending the
comment period.
