Meeting Information and Preliminary Agendas
As you know, the Tax and Pension Committee meetings will be held on Wednesday,
October 15, 1997, in the David Silver Conference Room on the 12th floor of the Institute’s offices
at 1401 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC. The Tax Committee meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m.,
followed by a joint luncheon, where our guest speaker will be Grete Carro, Industry Specialist,
Securities and Financial Service Firms, at the Internal Revenue Service. The Pension Committee
meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The preliminary meeting agendas for the Tax and Pension Committees are attached.
Please review the agendas and bring with you to the meetings any memoranda about which
you have specific questions or comments; in a change from prior practice, the meeting materials
no longer will contain copies of memoranda distributed during the prior four months.
October 14 Meeting on New Capital Gains Provisions and Tax Committee Dinner
As Tax Committee members know, a meeting to discuss the application of the new
capital gains provisions in the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 to investment companies and their
shareholders will be held on October 14 at 1:00 p.m. The location of the October 14 meeting
will be the Hay Adams Hotel (John Hay Room), One Lafayette Square, N.W. (the corner of 16th
and H Streets), Washington, DC. A buffet lunch will be available, starting at noon. Since many
of the October 14 meeting attendees also will be attending the Tax Committee meeting on
October 15, the Institute has made arrangements for interested Institute members to have
dinner together on October 14 at 6:00 p.m., at Aroma (which serves Indian cuisine), 1919 I
Street, N.W., Washington, DC. If you plan to attend the October 14 dinner, please call Theresa
Brice at 202-326-5833 no later than Monday, October 13 so that the appropriate dinner
reservation can be confirmed.
