IMMEDIATE ATTENTION June 16, 1997 VIA FAX TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 21-97 RE: REMINDER OF SEMINAR ON KOREAN FINANCIAL MARKETS TO BE HELD ON JUNE 27, 1997 ______________________________________________________________________________ Mr. Yong Hwan Kim, a senior official in Korea’s Ministry of Finance and Economy, will present a seminar on Korean financial markets for Institute members on Friday, June 27 at 10 AM in the David Silver Conference Room. Lunch will be served following the seminar. Mr. Kim is on leave from the Ministry of Finance and Economy to study in the United States and currently is spending several months in an internship at the Institute. Since 1993 he has served as Director, Securities Industry Division, Financial Policy Office, where he is responsible for supervision and coordinating the activities of investment trusts (mutual funds). Mr. Kim will provide an over-view covering the Korean economy, the market regulatory system, the structure and regulation of Korea’s mutual fund industry, and issues relating to foreign investment in Korea. There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion. The seminar is designed to be of interest to fund portfolio managers as well as others in your organization interested in Korea.
