| Print
March 11, 1996 TO: INDUSTRY STATISTICS COMMITTEE No. 7-96 PENSION COMMITTEE No. 9-96 RESEARCH COMMITTEE No. 12-96 RE: Annual Questionnaire for Retirement Statistics ______________________________________________________________________________ In response to increased demand for more comprehensive data on retirement plans invested in mutual funds, the Investment Company Institute started sending out a new annual survey in 1992 to collect additional information. Current and accurate information regarding the increasing role of mutual funds in various retirement savings plans is very important to the industry’s legislative, regulatory, and marketing efforts. Now in its fourth year, the annual retirement statistics survey needs to be completed for 1995. We are soliciting your assistance in completing the survey as efficiently as possible, so that we might compile the data and disseminate results in a timely manner. Mutual fund complexes are asked to report figures on a consolidated basis for each type of retirement plan. Data from this survey will only be reported in the aggregate. Individual company data provided will be held in confidence. You can help us by doing the following: 1. A brief questionnaire for 1995 data is enclosed for your complex along with a list of definiti ons for your conveni ence. Please complet e the survey or direct it to the appropr iate person in your firm who will be respons ible for its complet ion. Note that this survey is being sent to several persons within the same comple x to ensure it is directed to the appropr iate contact. If you would like to know whom else within your comple x we have sent the survey, please contact us. 2. Also, if you believe having a copy of your complex’s 1994 completed questionnaire would facilitate completing this year’s survey, please contact us so that we may fax it to you. 3. Return the completed survey to James Erceg, Research Analyst, at ICI as soon as possible, but before 4/15/96. If you or your staff have any questions regarding the questionnaire or this data collection, please contact me at (202) 326-5917, or send a fax to either (202) 326-5924 or (202) 326-5841. Thank you for your assistance and support for this effort. Kathy Rabon-Summers Director of Industry Studies
