February 13, 1996 TO: BOARD OF GOVERNORS No. 7-96 INVESTMENT COMPANY DIRECTORS No. 2-96 MEMBERS - ONE PER COMPLEX No. 12-96 RE: REGIONAL FORUMS FOR DIRECTORS -- NEW YORK FORUM APRIL 18 ______________________________________________________________________________ As previously announced, the Investment Company Institute is holding a series of one- day Regional Forums for investment company directors in selected cities around the country. Enclosed is the program and registration form for the second Regional Forum, which will be held in New York City on Thursday, April 18. Regional Forums also are planned for Boston on February 23 and San Francisco on June 27. The Forums will be especially useful for those fund directors who were unable to attend the Institute’s September 1995 Directors Conference in Washington, DC. Each Forum will feature a popular presentation from the 1995 Conference -- a case study conducted as a business school class by Professor Peter Tufano of Harvard Business School and Professor Erik Sirri of Babson College. The New York Forum will feature a luncheon keynote address and question-and- answer period with Barry Barbash, Director of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management. Also included from the September Conference is a panel on industry trends, moderated by Institute Chief Economist John Rea. Other panel members will include Geoff Bobroff, President of Bobroff Consulting, Inc; Kurt Cerulli, Principal, Cerulli Associates, Inc.; and Guy Moszkowski, Senior Research Analyst and Principal, Sanford Bernstein & Co. Rounding out the program will be a small group discussion session, which will provide fund directors with an opportunity to share their thoughts with their peers on issues of common concern. Attendance at each Forum will be limited to no more than 100 directors, officers, and employees of Institute member firms. Registration for the New York Forum will be open only to currently serving directors of Institute member investment companies through March 15. Registration forms received from other Institute member representatives prior to March 15 will be held until that date and then processed on a first-come, first-served basis, as space permits. For more information about the Forum programs, please contact Angela C. Goelzer, Assistant Vice President for Director Services at 202/326-5834. For questions regarding registration for a Forum, please contact the Institute’s Conference Division at 202/326-5968. C. Richard Pogue Executive Vice President Enclosure
