RE: REMINDER - PFIC SURVEY REQUEST

As you know, the Institute recently requested your assistance in updating our annual
survey of passive foreign investment companies ("PFICs").1 Only a few responses have been
received so far. If we are to provide updated survey results to Institute members by mid-
September, which remains our goal, we need your survey responses as soon as possible.
If you need another copy of the survey, please call Berlaunder Barnes, the Department’s
Administrative Assistant, at 202/326-5831. Survey responses should be faxed to Berlaunder
Barnes at 202/326-5839. If you have any questions regarding the survey itself, please call the
undersigned at 202/326-5832.
