The Colonial Group announced Manny's retirement in the attached press release. The Institute is pleased to announce that Mark Harris of Van Kampen American Capital will succeed Manny as the new Chairman of the Broker/Dealer Advisory Committee. The Institute wishes to recognize Manny at this time as a major contributor to numerous important industry operations developments over the years. As Chairman of the Broker/Dealer Advisory Committee, Manny provided many years of continuous and exemplary leadership that propelled the development of Fund/SERV, NETWORKING and other valuable NSCC mutual fund services. Manny was also instrumental in helping to create and generate continued industry support for the Institute's annual Operations Conference and became an annual fixture in moderating the conference's highly acclaimed panel on regulatory developments. In fact, Manny has played a pivotal role in virtually every important industry operations development we can recall. I am sure all of the members of the Operations Committee and its subcommittees join the Institute in expressing our sincere appreciation to Manny for his many years of thoughtful stewardship, his relentless consensus building efforts, his consistent willingness to help the Institute advance common industry goals, and perhaps most importantly, his uncommonly good fellowship and personal warmth. Please also join us in wishing Manny a happy, active and rewarding retirement. Donald J. Boteler Vice President - Operations Attachment
