March 7, 1995 TO: BOARD OF GOVERNORS No. 35-95 MEMBERS - ONE PER COMPLEX No. 30-95 SEC RULES MEMBERS No. 16-95 INVESTMENT COMPANY DIRECTORS RE: INVESTMENT COMPANY DIRECTORS WORKSHOP ON APRIL 18 _____________________________________________________________________________ Enclosed is the final program for the Institutes one-day workshop for fund directors and trustees at the Hotel Inter-Continental Chicago on April 18.* The workshop is designed for fund directors who are relative newcomers to the industry and will explore basic questions of board operations, contractual and regulatory issues, and other aspects of fund governance. Speakers for the workshop will include John Haire, Chairman of the Committee of Independent Directors, Dean Witter; Thomas Lemke, General Counsel, Strong/Corneliuson; Steven Paggioli, Executive Vice President, Wadsworth & Associates; and Richard Phillips, Partner, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart. Barry Barbash, Director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Investment Management, will discuss SEC inspections and compliance issues at the workshop luncheon. Attendance at the workshop is limited to directors, officers and employees of Institute members. To register, return the registration form attached to the program and the appropriate fee to the Investment Company Institute. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hotel Inter- Continental at a special rate of $120, so be sure to mention that you are attending the Institutes Directors Workshop when you call to make your reservation.
