RE: Appointment of James R. Swinney

I am pleased to announce the appointment of James R. Swinney to the
position of Senior Vice President-Management at the Institute.
Over the next year, Mr. Swinney will assume responsibility for
supervision of the Institute's Public Information and Marketing,
Research, Operations and Information Services Departments. He will
serve as a member of the Institute's senior management team and
report to C. Richard Pogue, Executive Vice President of the
Institute.
Mr. Swinney was formerly Senior Vice President and Chief
Administrative Officer of Putnam International and previously
served as an officer in the U.S. Army and at Putnam Investor
Services and Chubb Securities. Mr. Swinney is a graduate of the
United States Military Academy and has a M.A. from the University
of New Hampshire and an M.B.A. from Long Island University.
