RE: WHITE HOUSE BRIEFING

We have been advised that a White House Briefing for the Board of
Governor’s can only occur at 5:00pm, Wednesday,
October 6.
We have also been told by the White House that it will work to grant our
request to meet with particular Administration representatives, including USTR
Mickey Kantor, National Economic Council head Robert Rubin, Treasury Under
Secretary Frank Newman, and Commerce Secretary Ron Brown. As is the case with
all such meetings, the schedule is subject completely to the daily requirements
of the Office of the President. Therefore, an agenda of speakers, while
probable, is not guaranteed.
We recognize that this meeting time would represent a significant change
in your schedule, but nevertheless wanted to offer this opportunity to you. We
will only go forward with the White House briefing if a majority of Governors can
attend. Therefore, WITHIN 24 HOURS, will you please advise us of your ability
to attend the meeting. (Please see the attached form.)
