RE: 1992 ADVERTISING/MARKETING SEMINARS--SECOND NOTICE
__________________________________________________________
The Institute will conduct seminars this spring and summer on the
basics of mutual fund advertising and marketing. This series of
regional one day seminars, which will be held in four cities,
will feature presentations on the legal, creative, and strategic
aspects of marketing mutual funds directly to consumers, as well
as through a sales force. Speakers will include R. Clark Hooper,
director of advertising for the National Association of
Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD). Her presentation on the Role of
the NASD in the Regulation of Fund Advertising and Sales
Literature will include a discussion of the proposal to rescind
the NASD's "Guidelines Regarding Communications With the Public
About Investment Companies and Variable Contracts" and to amend
the NASD's Rules of Fair Practice. Other featured speakers
include industry legal and marketing executives, as well as
outside experts. These presentations will be designed to assist:
* newcomers to the fund industry;
* those who are new to the marketing function;
* non-marketing executives who are seeking greater
familiarity with the marketing function; and
* sales/marketing/public relations executives who have
not recently attended these seminars.
Registration for these seminars will be limited to employees of
ICI member organizations and their advertising/design/public
relations agencies. Non-members of the Institute will be
required to supply a letter from the Institute member with which
they have a business relationship. Please register early, as
space will be limited and it may not be possible to accommodate
walk-in registrations.
Topics to be Covered
The program of this seminar is designed to provide basic
information on various aspects of mutual fund marketing, with the
goal of providing ideas which attendees may integrate into their
own marketing programs. A preliminary agenda is attached. The
Investment Company Institute reserves the right to alter this
agenda as is necessary.
The seminar will begin at 9:30 a.m., and end at approximately
4:00 p.m. Lunch will be served.
