This series of regional one day seminars, which will be held in four cities, will feature presentations on the legal, creative, and strategic aspects of marketing mutual funds directly to consumers, as well as through a sales force. Speakers will include R. Clark Hooper, director of advertising for the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD). Her presentation on the Role of the NASD in the Regulation of Fund Advertising and Sales Literature will include a discussion of the proposal to rescind the NASD's "Guidelines Regarding Communications With the Public About Investment Companies and Variable Contracts" and to amend the NASD's Rules of Fair Practice. Other featured speakers include industry legal and marketing executives, as well as outside experts. These presentations will be designed to assist: * newcomers to the fund industry; * those who are new to the marketing function; * non-marketing executives who are seeking greater familiarity with the marketing function; and * sales/marketing/public relations executives who have not recently attended these seminars. Registration for these seminars will be limited to employees of ICI member organizations and their advertising/design/public relations agencies. Non-members of the Institute will be required to supply a letter from the Institute member with which they have a business relationship. Please register early, as space will be limited and it may not be possible to accommodate walk-in registrations. Topics to be Covered The program of this seminar is designed to provide basic information on various aspects of mutual fund marketing, with the goal of providing ideas which attendees may integrate into their own marketing programs. A preliminary agenda is attached. The Investment Company Institute reserves the right to alter this agenda as is necessary. The seminar will begin at 9:30 a.m., and end at approximately 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be served.
