TO: Closed-End Investment Company Committee RE: Mark Your Calendar for Wednesday, September 13 at 2:30 p.m. (ET): Recommendations on Common Closed-End Fund Proposals: A Conversation with Institutional Shareholder Services

 

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a webinar with Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) covering its approach to determining recommendations related to voting the shares of listed closed-end companies. The webinar will be virtual and will begin at 2:30 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. We expect the webinar to last about an hour.

Andrew Borek, Vice President of Special Situations Research, and David Spindler, Vice President of Special Situations Research, will be discussing the five factors ISS focuses on before making a recommendation as well as providing insight into the policy behind its decisions. ISS has agreed to take member questions, but has requested that all questions be pre-screened. If members have any questions they would like ICI to ask ISS about its proxy recommendations related to voting shares of listed closed-end funds, please send such questions in an email to me, Kevin Ercoline at kevin.ercoline@ici.org, and/or Kenneth Fang at kenneth.fang@ici.org. Please send questions to us as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, August 21, 2023, as ISS has asked for a copy of all questions before the end of August.
