December 18, 1991 TO: BOARD OF GOVERNORS NO. 90-91 SEC RULES COMMITTEE NO. 73-91 INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS NO. 11-91 RE: CONFERENCE ON THE GLOBALIZATION OF MUTUAL FUNDS __________________________________________________________ The Investment Company Institute is co-sponsoring with the International Bar Association a conference on the Globalization of Mutual Funds. This conference, which will be held in Bermuda at the Hamilton Princess Hotel on April 27-29, 1992, will focus on business and legal issues for mutual fund sponsors with a particular emphasis on cross-border sales. As shown in the attached brochure, there will be a panel dealing with issues for U.S. and Canadian funds seeking to access European markets and a panel dealing with foreign funds seeking to access the U.S. market. There also will be a panel debate on the best jurisdiction in which to locate an offshore fund marketed in Europe, as well as other panels on a variety of regulatory and tax issues. A complete listing of topics and speakers will be included in the final brochure which will be mailed at a later date. To register for the conference, please return the attached registration form and appropriate fee to the International Bar Association as early as possible. Because we expect substantial interest in the conference and the space is limited, we have intentionally restricted the initial distribution of this brochure. We would, therefore, urge you to register by January 31, if possible. If you have any questions regarding registration, please call Clare Glynn at 202-955-3555. We're looking forward to seeing you in Bermuda in April. Catherine L. Heron Vice President - Tax & Pension Enclosure
