January 9, 1992 TO: BOARD OF GOVERNORS NO. 2-92 RE: SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE JANUARY 28-30, 1992 MEETINGS __________________________________________________________ SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Attached is a schedule for the meetings of the Board of Governors at the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis on January 28-30, 1992. Board materials will be sent to you on January 17. If you do not wish to have them sent to your office address, please advise Ms. Sheilah Henderson at the Institute (202) 955-3504 by January 14. SECOND DAY DISCUSSION As usual, the second day of the Board meeting will be devoted to a discussion of topics of current importance to the industry and the Institute. Tom Powers will start by leading a discussion of the ICI Education Foundation's plans for beginning to educate tomorrow's fund investors today. That will be followed by a broad discussion of distribution issues currently facing the industry. I will ask one or more Governors to be prepared to introduce each of the following questions: 1. International 2. Pricing Issues 3. What are the most dangerous threats to public confidence in funds and what can we do about them? 4. Implications of greater bank involvement in mutual fund distribution I ask that each of you also come prepared to discuss these questions. RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES We are planning our second golf and tennis tournaments for Tuesday afternoon, January 28. In addition we have planned an Island Tour for spouses and guests for Wednesday morning and a snorkeling outing on Wednesday afternoon for everyone. In order to plan these activities, please complete the attached form and return it to Clare Glynn at the Institute. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES On Tuesday evening we will have an informal reception around the pool and dinner outdoors. Dress for the Tuesday dinner is casual. The Wednesday reception and dinner will be held in the Ballroom where men are requested to wear jackets.
