ICI Global Trading & Markets Committee RE: EU MiFID II/R Consultation - Deadline Extended to 18 May; Member Call on 23 April
On 2 April 2020, the European Commission (“the Commission”) announced[1] an extension to the comment period for its consultation on the MiFID II/R framework.[2] The Commission will now accept comments until Monday 18 May 2020 (the previous deadline was 20 April 2020).
ICI Global held a member call on 4 March 2020 to brief members on the content of the Commission’s MiFID II/R consultation and a related ESMA consultation, to begin gathering member feedback.
ICI Global will hold a further member call covering the investor protection aspects of the Commission’s MiFID II/R consultation on Thursday 23 April at 10am ET/3pm BST. The call will cover questions raised by the Commission concerning:
- easier access to simple and transparent products;
- relevance and accessibility of adequate information;
- client profiling and classification;
- product oversight, governance and inducements;
- distance communication; and
- reporting on best execution.
