August 9, 1991 TO: MEMBERS - ONE PER COMPLEX NO. 33-91 SEC RULES MEMBERS NO. 43-91 CLOSED-END FUND MEMBERS NO. 35-91 UNIT INVESTMENT TRUST MEMBERS NO. 33-91 RE: SENATE PASSES BILL CONTAINING REGISTRATION FEE INCREASE __________________________________________________________ Last week, the U.S. Senate passed SEC appropriations legislation. The bill would raise registration fees under Section 6(b) of the Securities Act to 1/32nd of 1%. (As we previously informed you, the President's proposed budget for fiscal year 1992 contained such an increase in SEC fees. See Memorandum to Members-One Per Complex No. 6-91, SEC Rules Members No. 9-91, Closed-End Fund Members No. 7-91 and Unit Investment Trust Members No. 6-91, dated February 13, 1991.) The appropriations bill passed earlier by the House did not include a registration fee increase, so the issue will have to be resolved in a House-Senate Conference. We will keep you informed of developments. Craig S. Tyle Associate General Counsel
