RE: PROTOTYPE SEP/SARSEP

As we recently informed you, the Internal Revenue Service
announced that it will now issue opinion letters on prototype
SARSEPs which are not top-heavy. (See Institute Memorandum to
Pension Members No. 22-91, dated August 7, 1991.) The Institute
is considering filing a prototype SARSEP as a mass submitter
which, when approved, will be available to Institute members to
adopt as their own.
A meeting has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday,
September 5, 1991 at the Institute to discuss particular
provisions and format for the prototype SARSEP. Please call
Theresa Brice at 202/955-3525 by Tuesday, September 3, 1991 if
you will be able to attend the meeting.
