SEC's Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee Meeting Scheduled for Tuesday, February 2

TO: EQUITY MARKETS ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 3-16 RE: SEC'S EQUITY MARKET STRUCTURE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2

 

The Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee (“Committee”) recently issued a notice that it will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, February 2. [1] The meeting will focus on the events of August 24, 2015 and certain issues affecting customers in the current equity market structure. As previously reported, in December, the SEC staff released a research note containing empirical data and other information to help assess the operation of the U.S. equity markets under the stressed conditions of August 24. [2]

We will discuss the work of the SEC’s Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee (including the February 2 meeting) at the upcoming meeting of ICI’s Equity Markets Advisory Committee on February 8, in New York. [3]
