TO: DERIVATIVES MARKETS ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 50-15
INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 36-15
ICI GLOBAL TRADING & MARKETS COMMITTEE No. 31-15 RE: MEMBER CALL TO DISCUSS EU CONSULTATION ON EMIR IMPLEMENTATION REVIEW ON THURSDAY, JULY 16 AT 12:00 P.M. ET

Recently, the European Commission issued a public consultation in connection with a report that it must prepare on the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (“EMIR”), which implements in the European Union the commitment by G-20 countries to reform the derivatives markets. [1]  Under EMIR, the Commission is required to prepare a general report on EMIR for submission to the European Parliament and the Council and any appropriate proposals.  The purpose of the Public Consultation is to obtain feedback from market participants on their experiences in the implementation of EMIR, which will assist the Commission in preparing the report.  ICI’s Memorandum summarizing the Consultation Paper is available at http://www.ici.org/my_ici/memorandum/memo28999.

Comments on the Public Consultation are due by August 13.  A member call to discuss possible ICI Global comments is scheduled for Thursday, July 16 at 12:00 p.m. ET.  If you would like to participate on the call, please RSVP to Kim Hair (kim.hair@ici.org or 202-326-5818) to receive the dial-in information.
