TO: CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER COMMITTEE No. 9-14
OPERATIONS COMMITTEE No. 40-14
TRANSFER AGENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 60-14 RE: ICI SURVEY ON INTERMEDIARY OVERSIGHT PRACTICES

A sub-group of ICI’s Chief Compliance Officer Committee, Operations Committee, and Transfer Agent Advisory Committee has designed a survey to collect data regarding mutual fund intermediary oversight practices.  The objective of gathering such information is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current environment and to assist ICI in developing tools and education that will assist members in enhancing their oversight programs.

This online survey is available at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ICI_IntermediaryOversightPractices

This survey is being sent to all firms represented on ICI’s Chief Compliance Officer Committee, Operations Committee, and Transfer Agent Advisory Committee.  We ask that each fund organization coordinates its response internally and provide ICI with only one response per fund complex.  Data collected from each individual firm will remain strictly confidential.  Final aggregate survey feedback will be shared only with firms that participate in the survey.

The survey includes five sections.  A PDF copy of the survey is attached for your reference in order to assist you in completing the online version.   Please note, however, that you must complete and remit the survey online.  The survey will take approximately 45 – 60 minutes to complete.  You may exit the survey tool at any time and any answers provided will be automatically saved.  You may return to complete and submit your final survey responses at a later time.  The deadline for completing the online survey is close of business, Wednesday, October 8, 2014.

The Institute is conducting this survey for informational purposes only.  ICI members should act independently in making any decisions based on the survey results.  The survey may be shared with ICI member firms’ employees, agents, and fund directors, so long as the firms, its employees and any such agents or directors do not disclose, publish, or otherwise share the survey with other persons without the prior written permission of ICI.

The survey represents valuable intellectual property of the ICI and is protected under United States copyright laws that prohibit the unauthorized distribution or copying of this survey.  ICI will enforce its intellectual property rights to the fullest extent of the law.

If you have any questions about the survey or the online tool, please contact me.  Your participation in this important initiative is greatly appreciated.
