TO: DERIVATIVES MARKETS ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 24-14 RE: CFTC REQUESTS COMMENT ON SWAP DATA RECORDKEEPING AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Recently, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) issued a request for public comment on the CFTC’s swap data recordkeeping and reporting requirements under Part 45 and related provisions of the CFTC rules. [1]  The CFTC posed 69 questions (many with subparts) on a number of topics, including the reporting of primary economic terms, confirmation and continuation data; the manner in which the reporting rules address diversity of transaction types, business models, and data flows present in the swaps market; the reporting of cleared swaps; and data ownership issues and data harmonization.

Comments are due to the CFTC by May 27, 2014.  ICI is not inclined to submit a letter in response to the request for comment.  If members believe ICI should submit a comment letter, please contact me at jennifer.choi@ici.org or 202-326-5876 no later than Friday, April 11.
