TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 1-14
INTERNATIONAL INVESTING SUBCOMMITTEE No. 1-14 RE: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING JANUARY 22 - AGENDA ATTACHED

As we previously informed you, the next meeting of the Institute’s International Committee will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014.  The meeting will be held at the Institute’s offices in Washington, D.C only.  The meeting will begin at noon and will end at approximately 2:30 p.m.  Lunch will be served prior to the meeting.

We have a full agenda for this meeting and will be covering a number of diverse topics.  We are pleased to announce that Michael Caccesse and Pamela Grossetti, Partners at K&L Gates LLP, will present on the GIPS Guidance Statement on Pooled Investment Funds and its potential impact on regulated funds.  Although such guidance has not yet been finalized, the intended approach would significantly impact pooled fund managers that claim compliance with GIPS.  We will reserve time for Q&A.  We have also invited Gary Barnett, Swaps Division Director at the CFTC, to address recent developments in the regulation of cross border derivatives transactions since he was unable to attend as initially planned on October 1 due to the U.S. government shut-down (attendance still to be confirmed; otherwise the topic will be covered by ICI staff).

We will also discuss with members the recent U.K. FCA consultation on dealing commission.  Comments are due February 25th and we are seeking member input regarding the impact of the proposed changes on member firms, particularly with respect to corporate access, including with respect to arrangements where services are provided into and out of the U.K.

In addition, we will have updates on a number of other topics, including the adoption of the Volcker Rule final regulations, FATCA and financial tax proposals, the activities of the FSB/IOSCO on asset management and potential designation as SIFIs, and Asian fund passport developments.  Please see the attached agenda for further information.

Please register for the meeting online via Cvent at www.ici.org/reg/international at your earliest convenience.  If you have questions about registration, please contact Ruth Tadesse at 202-326-5836 or rtadesse@ici.org.  If you have questions about the meeting, please feel free to contact me at 202-326-5837 or (emykolenko@ici.org).
