TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 21-13INTERNATIONAL INVESTING SUBCOMMITTEE No. 5-13 RE: NOTICE OF INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING ON OCTOBER 1 AND PRELIMINARY AGENDA
The next meeting of the Institute’s International Committee will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. The meeting will be held at the Institute’s offices in Washington, D.C. and in London at the offices of Capital International Ltd. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Washington, DC (3:30 p.m. in London) and will last until approximately 2:30 p.m. in Washington, DC (7:30 p.m. in London).
As we notified you in an earlier email, recognizing that a number of the members of ICI’s International Committee are also members of the International Committee of the Investment Adviser Association, and that we follow many of the same issues (although sometimes with a different focus), we have determined to hold our fall meeting jointly with the IAA’s annual in-person meeting in order to make it easier for members to participate in both committee meetings.
Attached is a preliminary agenda for the International Committee meeting. We have a very full agenda and, as usual, welcome your active participation. We are also pleased to let you know that we have arranged for guest speakers on the following topics:
- Gary Barnett, Swaps Division Director, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Tom Springbett, Head of Derivatives, U.K. Financial Conduct Authority will discuss the regulation of cross border derivatives transactions in the U.S. and EU, with time reserved for Q&A.
- Schan Duff, Senior Counsel (Washington, D.C.), and Nigel Parker, Senior Associate (London), Allen & Overy LLP will present on the impact of cyber security and data privacy on the fund industry, with time reserved for Q&A.
