TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 9-13
As we previously informed you, we will hold the next meeting of ICI’s International Committee on Monday, April 29, followed by the annual ICI and EFAMA meeting on Tuesday, April 30th. Below, please find further information about these meetings, as well as the Committee dinner on the evening of April 29. We encourage you to register as soon as possible.
International Committee Meeting: The International Committee meeting will be held on Monday, April 29th, from1-3 p.m. EST in the Institute’s David Silver Conference Room (DSCR), 1401H Street, NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC. Lunch will be served prior to the meeting beginning at 12:00 p.m. A preliminary agenda for the meeting is attached.
We are expecting a full meeting and, as always, welcome your active participation. We are pleased to let you know that we have arranged for two guest speakers. Glenn Kolleeny, a partner at Dentons, will present on key issues and challenges for asset managers and funds investing in Russia. Although Glenn is based in the firm’s Moscow office, he will be joining us in Washington, DC for this meeting. We will also have an in-person update on developments in the Hong Kong fund industry by Sally Wong, CEO of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association.
At the meeting, we will also cover developments under the EU AIFMD and UCITS V, particularly with respect to letter-box entities and remuneration. In addition, we will provide an update on India’s KYC requirements and ICI’s letter to SEBI on this issue. Please register for this meeting at www.ici.org/reg/intl.
International Committee Dinner: The annual dinner for International Committee members and international guests attending the Institute’s General Membership Meeting will be held on the evening of Monday, April 29th. The dinner will be held at the District Kitchen Restaurant, 2606 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008 at 6:30 p.m. (walking distance from the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel and the Woodley Park-Zoo metro stop). ICI/EFAMA Joint Meeting: The annual joint meeting of ICI’s International Committee and the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) will be held the following day, Tuesday, April 30th. The meeting will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. All member associations of the International Investment Funds Association have been invited to join this meeting. The meeting will take place from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 2:30 p.m. Breakfast will be available beginning at 7:30 a.m. and lunch will be served during the meeting.
As usual, we will cover a number of topics including U.S. and EU regulatory priorities, regulatory restrictions on incentives for the sale of funds, FATCA and financial transaction taxes, the regulation of money market funds, capital markets reforms, and what’s on the international agenda for U.S. regulators. General Membership Meeting and Other Conferences: ICI’s General Membership Meeting as well as the Mutual Funds Compliance Programs Conference, the Operations and Technology Conference and the IDC’s Fund Directors Workshop will be held on May 1-3 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel Like last year, attendees that register for GMM will have access to GMM as well as the other conferences.
This combination of events provides exceptional opportunities to hear from experts and industry leaders on a variety of topics. Confirmed speakers include Senators Kent Conrad and Judd Gregg, members of President Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform; Marie Chandoha, President and CEO, Charles Schwab Investment Management; William “Bill” Glavin, Chairman, President, and CEO, OppenheimerFunds; John Thiel, Head of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Bank of America Merrill Lynch; and William F. “Ted” Truscott, CEO, Global Asset Management, Columbia Management and Threadneedle Investments.
