April 19, 1991 TO: BOARD OF GOVERNORS NO. 24-91 FEDERAL LEGISLATION COMMITTEE NO. 5-91 RE: MEETINGS WITH MEMBERS OF CONGRESS __________________________________________________________ The Institute's Legislative Affairs Department is requesting important information concerning your willingness to meet with Members of Congress on behalf of the mutual fund industry. Congressional meetings are an indispensable part of the Institute's communication network with Congress. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity for Congress to hear directly from you about the impact of particular legislative issues on the mutual fund industry. Those of you who have met with Members of Congress on behalf of the Institute know that member participation can make a distinct and positive contribution to the legislative process. The information requested on the attached form will help us to schedule Congressional contacts with Institute members. Some Congressional visits will be scheduled during the week of our General Membership Meeting in May. Other visits will be scheduled for convenient dates in the future. I assure you that the information you provide will be used for internal organizational purposes only. Under no circumstances will any Member of Congress be contacted on your behalf without your permission or prior consultation. Please complete and return the attached survey form to Kathleen Bovello, Director of Communications for Legislative Affairs, at your earliest convenience. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 202/955-3544. Julie Domenick Vice President Legislative Affairs Attachment
