ICI Risk Management Committee to Hold In-Person Meeting on Wednesday, May 25th in Washington, DC; RSVP By Friday, May 13th

TO: RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE No. 4-11 RE: ICI RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE TO HOLD IN-PERSON MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 25TH IN WASHINGTON, DC; RSVP BY FRIDAY, MAY 13TH

 

The next in-person meeting of the Institute’s Risk Management Committee has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 25th from 10-5 at the ICI’s offices, 1401 H Street NW, Washington, DC.  The meeting is free but you must register for it as indicated in the box below.  Also, please note that the meeting is longer than usual to accommodate a joint meeting, from 2-5 p.m., of the Risk Management and Internal Audit Committees of the Institute.  The chairs of both of these committees believe there is much synergy between the risk management and internal audit functions and have planned this joint session to discuss how risk managers and internal auditors, respectively, conduct risk assessments and collaborate their activities.  There will also be an informal dinner of the committees on May 25th, for which attending members will be billed their pro-rata share.  You may RSVP for the dinner when you register for the meeting. 

I am pleased to report that Carlo DiFlorio, the Director of the SEC’s Office of Compliance, Inspections, and Examinations (OCIE) has agreed to join us from 2:30-3:30 (during the joint session) to have an informal discussion regarding his reforms within OCIE and OCIE’s areas of interest in conducting inspections and sweep examinations.  We believe you will find this joint session valuable and hope you will make plans to attend it. To attend the meeting, you must register through this link no later than Friday, May 13th:  http://members.ici.org/reg/risk.  During the registration process, please include at least one issue for discussion at the meeting, as well as any topics you would like to have included on the agenda.  Also, if you plan to bring your internal auditor to the joint session and the auditor is not currently on the ICI’s Internal Audit Committee, please so indicate when you register.

Below are hotels that are within walking distance of the ICI.  Please note that the Institute has not made any special arrangements with any of these hotels and Committee members are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements.

 [1] Please note that if your internal auditor is not currently on the ICI’s Internal Audit Committee, we encourage you to invite them to join us for this joint session and dinner (they should not plan to attend the 10-2 portion of the Risk Management Committee meeting) and attend the in-person meeting of the Internal Audit Committee, which will be held from 10-2 on Thursday, May 26th. You may register them for the joint session and Internal Audit Committee meeting when you register for the Risk Management Committee meeting.
