TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 11-10
A preliminary agenda for the International Committee meeting on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 is attached. We are expecting a full meeting and are pleased to announce that Guy Sears from the U.K.’s Investment Management Association will be at the meeting to discuss the UK FSA’s consultation proposing significant changes to its remuneration code. ICI staff also will join the discussion regarding this topic from the US perspective. We will also discuss issues and reforms in the US and European capital markets with Guy and ICI staff, comparing US and MiFID approaches. The presenters will be available to address questions.
We will also have a discussion on the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act by Keith Lawson, ICI’s Senior Counsel for Tax Issues. Keith, too, will be available to answer questions.
In addition, we will discuss several issues related to India, including margin requirements and the new declaration and undertaking requirement which requires, among other things, prior SEBI approval for the issuance of a new share class for multi-share class vehicles. Lastly, we will also have time for Committee members to raise issues on which they wish to seek input from other members.
The committee meeting will be held at the Investment Company Institute in Washington, D.C. with offsite locations in San Mateo, California and London. The California and London meetings will be hosted by Franklin Templeton Investments. The meeting will begin promptly at 12 p.m. Eastern time (9 a.m. Pacific time and 5 p.m. London time) and will last for approximately 2 ½ hours. Please note that we expect the meeting to be longer than the committee’s usual 2 hour meeting due to the full agenda. Lunch or a continental breakfast will be available at the US locations before the meeting. Details for the three locations are listed below.
