RE: January Board of Governors Meeting

Attached is confirmation of your attendance for the
January Board of Governors meeting at the Mauna Kea Hotel in
Hawaii.
Also enclosed is a schedule of events for the meeting. The
meeting agenda and accompanying materials will be sent to you
next week.
The meeting of the Board on Thursday, January 31, will be
devoted to the following topics:
1) Reform of the Investment Company Act.
Matt Fink, Cathy Heron and members of the Board will
lead a discussion of the principal proposals for
changes in the Investment Company Act and will
highlight comments submitted by the Institute and
other commentators.
2) ICI Mandate for the 1990s.
Jim Riepe and other Executive Committee members will
present the Executive Committee’s report which is based
on Heidi Fiske and Associates’ work to help the
Institute define its future direction.
If you will be requiring ground transportation from Kona
Airport, please call the resort desk at the Mauna Kea (808/882-
7222) and inform them directly of your arrival and departure
times.
