TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE
INTERNATIONAL INVESTING SUBCOMMITTEE No. 1-10     RE: NOTICE OF GMM WEEK INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS -- MAY 4 AND 5, 2010

The next meeting of the International Committee will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in the Institute’s David Silver Conference Room (DSCR), 1401 H Street, NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC.  As described below, we will also have a dinner on May 4th.

In conjunction with this committee meeting, there will be a number of other meetings during the General Membership Meeting (GMM) week to which we invite members of the International Committee and International Investing Subcommittee.

International Operations Advisory Committee.  Members are invited to participate in the Institute’s International Operations Advisory Committee (IOAC) meeting on Tuesday, May 4th in the Institute’s DSCR.  The meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. with continental breakfast and will continue until approximately 12:00 p.m.  The International Committee and the IOAC will then have a joint lunch, followed by the International Committee meeting.
International Committee and EFAMA.  On Wednesday, May 5th, we will hold our annual joint meeting with members of the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA).  New this year, the meeting will be held at: The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Washington Room, 2660 Woodley Road, NW, Washington, D.C. (the GMM location).  It will begin at 8:15 a.m. with continental breakfast available before the meeting.  The meeting will conclude by 3:00 p.m.

The meeting with EFAMA will cover topics such as the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (with a guest speaker from the US Treasury), money market funds and the new private fund manager reforms and their impacts on registered fund managers (with a guest speaker from the US SEC).  We will also discuss and compare financial regulatory reforms, including how US and EU initiatives are similar and the issues raised when the approaches differ.  The money market fund session will be held jointly with the Institute’s Money Market Funds Advisory Committee to discuss current US money market fund rules and trends and the European developments in this area.  We anticipate a full day of robust discussion on these and other topics with EFAMA and its members.

International Committee Dinner – Tuesday, May 4th

As in years past, we will be hosting a dinner for International Committee members and international guests attending the GMM and the other conferences.  The dinner will be on the evening of Tuesday, May 4th at approximately 6:30 p.m., at the Lebanese Taverna (within walking distance of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel).  Additional details will be provided later.

GMM and Concurrent Conferences – May 5-7th.

We also hope you will consider attending the Institute’s GMM which will be held concurrently with 3 other conferences at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.  The Mutual Funds Compliance Programs Conference, the Operations and Technology Conference and the IDC’s Investment Company Directors Workshop will all take place with GMM from May 5-7, 2010.  Attendees will be able to access the specialized programming of the individual conferences and the more panoramic perspective that GMM offers.
